Customer Communication: The security of your information is very important. At Home State Bank, we recognize that as technology evolves, so too must the protections that we provide. This extends to passwords, which can in some cases be the weakest link in an otherwise robust system of protection. To better strengthen this security feature, we are introducing an enhancement to our password requirements. Beginning Tuesday, November 13th at 10:00 a.m. customers will be systematically prompted to change their password when signing into the online or mobile banking systems. New passwords must be a minimum of 13 characters and include special symbols, numbers, and capital letters.

We appreciate your participation in this upgrade. For your reference, we have included answers to some frequently asked questions below. If you have any additional questions or would like to speak with a member of our Customer Service Team, please feel free to contact us at (815)459-2000. Thank you.

Customer FAQ:

What if I change my password before November 13th? You are more than welcome to change it before the roll out, however, you will be asked to change the password again after the 13th. As Home State Bank systematically rolls out the changes, we want to ensure that all our customers have met the new guidelines. Our tracking of these changes will occur after 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.

What if I change my password after November 13th but before I am prompted to? As long as you have changed your password after 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 you will not be asked to change it again during this roll out. We will be tracking all the password changes after that time and will know you have changed yours.

What if I can’t recall my current password? If you are unable to recall your current password, you are more than welcome to call our Customer Service Team at (815)459-2000. Our Customer Service Team can verify who you are and help you reset your password. Another way to reset your password is through the "Reset Password" link under your online password request.

How often am I going to have to do this? It is recommended that you change your password every 30 to 180 days. How often you choose to change your password is up to you. At the current time, Home State Bank is not requiring ongoing password updates.

What if my password is already compliant, can I use the same one? Unfortunately, we are requiring you to change your password even if it is compliant. Home State Bank has no idea if your current password is compliant or not and that is why we are requiring all our customers to change their password.

What if I use my fingerprint as my password, do I still have to reset my password? In short, yes. As the fingerprint adds another layer of protection, it works in sync with your online password. Once you have logged in and used your fingerprint, the system will prompt you to change your current password.
